I have celebrated Veteran's Day in some pretty unusual ways. I got to see President Carter at Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, D.C., this was written about in last years post. Another year, I got to see Princess Diana, also written about in a post.
Those were fun Veteran's days, described above. But for the more serious side, I offer this. I actually worked at the Veteran's Administration (VA) in Washington, D.C. for about six years. Later, I was at the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) a few blocks away from the VA and the Vietnam Veteran's Memorial. I remember walking by the construction for the memorial, but once the names were inscribed, it took a good year before I could go back over there and see it. I just didn't want to see the names, nor the name of somebody I knew. The picture was taken probably in October. Below, is a picture of me. Please remember this day and what it means to you and America.

Love that the uniform still fits. I wish I could say that about my clothes from a few years past! CONGRATS!!!
These are beautiful pictures. Thank you very much for your service to our country.
Three cheers for the women! Thanks for sharing your story and pictures, Barbara.
Wonderful! You have worked at so many interesting places - thank you for sharing these with us.
How wonderful you can still fit in your uniform. Thanks for serving and for sharing.
Thank you for your service to our Country, Barbara.
Thank you every one of you for your comments. I wasn't sure about posting me in uniform, but now I'm glad, brings back very good memories.
As I've said many times, I live vicariously through you. What an interesting live you have lead!
Interesting! Something that we have in common - although my uniform doesn't fit me anymore! Actually, I don't have it any longer, but I know it wouldn't fit!!
Elizabeth and Becky, interesting life many years ago, not so now. Becky, I have the fatigue pants with buttons, did you? so I need to hold my breath to close it up. The olive jacket is like new, boots worn every year, good condition. I'll take pictures...sometime.
Thank you, Barbara for your service and for the memories. I remember those green striped seersucker uniforms you're wearing. We had to put so much starch on them! I finally gave the last of my uniforms away a few moves ago. I certainly couldn't get in any of them.
