Welcome to my Genealogy Blog.

Why not spend a minute or two at my Blog to see if there is anything interesting to read. Perhaps I've written something about your ancestor, gave a hint on how to locate something, provided a different way to do research, or just gave a glimpse into the world of genealogy research through words or photos. I try to make it light and enjoyable.

My roots are from New England (Connecticut, Massachusetts, Vermont, and New Hampshire), New York, New Jersey, Michigan, Illinois, Wyoming, and the Eastern Townships of Quebec, Canada.

Please check out the labels on the right side for articles. The header tabs at the top are a work in progress.

I also have a blog called Seeing New England. Why not visit it, to get a feeling for the area.

Where Is He? -- Wordless Wednesday

My Grandfather.
Does anybody recognize this location? I now know it is the Greenwich Line in England.
I have been there, but didn't remember, so thanks to those who commented.

The way he is straddling the line makes me think that he was in two places at once. Not many clues in the photo. It looks like it drops off behind the fence. I hope someone recognizes the location.

Apple, I agree with the two locations idea. The photo is from a 30-55 yr. old slide that I had printed.

LOVE the photo! I'll hazard a guess. Is he standing in the US and Canada at the same time? Perhaps Niagra Falls?

The Greenwich line, near the observatory. I think I remember it looked like that, but it was a long time ago. Did he ever go to London? (I have a photo of my husband at the Equator in Ecuador at the Mitad de Mundo statue, but he he was there he probably would have included the statue somewhere in the photo.)

I did a response to you both, then googled the Greenwich Line, a place I've visited as well. And the photos are exact. Should have done that first, since both my husband and I thought that first. Heather got me to investigate more with the idea. Need to put the place in, before more try to guess. Thanks Heather and everybody.

I had no idea either but the picture really caught my attention. I love how he is straddling the line like he's in two places at once.

Everyone poses like this at Greenwich or at the equator. My husband lay down on the line for a photo, too. There is a marker in Vermont for the 45th parallel (halfway between the equator and the north pole) and we've posted there, too, but there is no line! I remember posing with one toe in Portugal when we were driving in Spain. Fun photos to have!

Thank you for the comments. Maybe I am the only one who didn't pose, but I've been there. Glad for all your input.

I'm glad you posted the photo anyway. He looks like such a charmer!

I bet this gentleman had a great sense of humor. Love the jaunty hat!

Thanks Ms. Scrappy and Greta for commenting. Funny thing is, I never thought of him as funny or charming. Maybe this was on his 2nd honeymoon, that could explain the pose.
