Welcome to my Genealogy Blog.

Why not spend a minute or two at my Blog to see if there is anything interesting to read. Perhaps I've written something about your ancestor, gave a hint on how to locate something, provided a different way to do research, or just gave a glimpse into the world of genealogy research through words or photos. I try to make it light and enjoyable.

My roots are from New England (Connecticut, Massachusetts, Vermont, and New Hampshire), New York, New Jersey, Michigan, Illinois, Wyoming, and the Eastern Townships of Quebec, Canada.

Please check out the labels on the right side for articles. The header tabs at the top are a work in progress.

I also have a blog called Seeing New England. Why not visit it, to get a feeling for the area.

Treasure Chest Thursday

Long silver decorative serving  spoon.

Above spoon received the same time I got the Gorham "Fairfax" setting as described in post called A Mixed Table Setting.

I LOVE antique tableware. I have to take the time to check my Kovel book on silver hallmarks to see if yours is mentioned.

Such a fun way to start the day. If my eyes are to be trusted (no comments) it looks like it's a Georgian piece made by Joseph Hicks in Exeter, England in 1806. A gorgeous spoon.

Very pretty! I like to collect spoons when I travel places - unfortunately a lot of the ones sold as souvenirs are lacking in quality.

I'm so glad to know it is old Susan. It must have been bought in Connecticut, because nobody was in England at that time. Interesting. Thanks to all of you for your comments. Oh, maybe I should use it, this was the first time I polished it in 30 years!

Barbara, you sure have some wonderful, old heirlooms! You are very fortunate!
