I believe the jug was purchased by him during one of his many trips overseas. Imagine Paris in 1927, bet he had fun. In the 30 years I've had it, I cleaned it once.

Great painting and great story! Your grandfather did a nice job on the painting. Capturing the reflections in the jug isn't easy. My mom painted and she said painting the reflections on glass or in your case copper was one of the toughest things to do. You're lucky to have such a nice painting in your dining room.
Fabulous. I love paintings like this, done by family members! Wonderful.
Fantastic heirlooms! Your grandfather was quite the artist and I love that you still have the copper jug.
What absolutely wonderful treasures Barbara!
This is grand! As to what he was thinking, I suspect he was remembering that trip to Paris with each brush he cleaned. Personally I prefer objects that have been used and are a bit worn. Makes the connection seem more real.
Thank you all for your comments. I'm running out of show and tell items, but this is my favorite, and I'm glad you appreciated it.
Nice photo of a lovely painting. I wish I had that kind of talent in my family!
Lovely! Artistic talent must run in the family.
What treasures you have there...
Jasia, Greta and Dee, I appreciate your comments.
Fantastic! Amazing to have not only the painting, but the subject! What a treasure.
This is VERY special and unique! You have so many wonderful treasures, and I can see why these would be one of your favorites! Special indeed!
