Jethro Coffin House
The residents of this 1686 house were Jethro Coffin and Mary Gardner (she was my first cousin, 9x removed).
Unfortunately, it was closed, perhaps for the season, so I couldn't see the inside.

How wonderful, to have something that old that still is standing.
Great to see these photographs of old Nantucket. I have very happy memories of visitng the island many years ago, whilst working in Boston for a year. I loved the buildings and the setting. Susan.
What a lovely house! It makes me miss Massachusetts all the more.
Neat! Thanks for sharing and bringing this one to our attention! ;-)
Great photos!! I hope to find some of my ancestral homes still standing! That would be so awesome! Thanks for sharing.
We were fortunate to visit on a day when the house was open. We had a very informative tour and saw a portrait of Mary Gardner. My wife is also a 1st cousin 9x removed from Jethro Coffin. The second residents were Nathaniel Paddack and Ann Bunker, Ruth's 7th great grand parents. I really enjoyed visiting the Nantucket Historical Association where I found a history of this remarkable house.
Oh wow...I hope you are able to get into it.
What a delight to be able to walk the same floors as one of your long ago relatives...
Love those really old houses. This one is spectacular especially when you think about how they built that tall, tall roof without today's equipment to make it easier.
Thank you everybody for your comments. It was a treat to see the house from the outside, the next time, I hope for a tour.
