The Life From The Roots blog topics have changed several times since I began this blog in 2009. I initially wrote only about the family history I had been working on for 20 years. Years later, I was into visiting gardens, historical homes, churches, libraries that had genealogical collections, historical societies, war memorials, and travel/tourism places. I also enjoy posting autographs and photos of famous people I've met or have seen.

Along with my New England roots, other areas include New York, New Jersey, Michigan, Illinois, Wisconsin, and the Eastern Townships of Quebec, Canada.

Please check out the labels on the right side for topics (please note, they need work). Below the labels and pageviews is a listing of my top nine posts, according to Google. Four of them pertain to Lowell, MA. These posts change often because they are based on what people are reading.

Derry Public Library, Derry, New Hampshire -- (See The Resources for Genealogists)

I was anxious to visit this library on May 26, 2022, because I had heard of The New Hampshire Room. I have quite a few ancestors from New Hampshire, but I didn't do any research.

Most of my photos are of the New Hampshire room, but the next four are typical library pictures.

Plenty of computers above and DVDs and music below.

I was the only one in this room, so I took a lot of photos, hoping they would help a genealogist or researcher see what was there. Permission was given to me to be here. The website for this room is https://dplnhroom.wordpress.com/ Several categories are Local History, Genealogy, and Nutfield Research. I have two direct lines from New Hampshire, they are SECCOMB and WILDER, but a huge number of non-direct lines like Westover and Poole.

Kelley Public Library, Salem, New Hampshire (See The Resources for Genealogists)

(Note: Parking is on the back.)

On May 23, 2022, I made my first visit to this library and I was pleasantly surprised for two reasons. First, the library was huge and had a lot of large windows providing sunlight and views. Second, it had a well-equipped history/genealogy room.

This Kelly Room has one of the largest collections of genealogy and history books, as you can see by my many photos. I enlarged quite a few so genealogists can read the titles.

Lawrence is in Massachusetts and almost borders Salem, New Hampshire.

The following photos are on the lowest floor. There is an exit to the parking lot.

View to the Library from the back entrance where I parked. I've never had a prettier view while at a library.

Pelham Public adcxLibrary, Pelham, New Hampshire -- See The Resources for Genealogists

The Pelham Public Library in New Hampshire was the first library I visited in over three years. I chose this because I learned it was new, I knew the assistant director and it wasn't far from my Massachusetts residence, I knew the area. Photos taken on April 18, 2022.

Since Pelham is a small town, 14,000 people in 2018. I didn't expect the library to have a lot in the way of history/genealogy books. Below are what I found. I was told the Historical Society was active and had a lot of material. However, it was closed on this day.

The books are kept in the cabinet shown below. It is very near the reference desk as you enter the building.

The library used to be in the building that is now the Pelham Historical Society.
