My blog has been changed to make it more appealing for those who have New England ancestors and want to see the area through photos. Things I’ll include are typical white New England churches, libraries showing their genealogical collection, historical societies, cemeteries, war memorials, in general, anything to do with history.

For four years I’ve blogged mostly about my personal genealogy in New England (Connecticut, Massachusetts, Vermont, and New Hampshire), New York, New Jersey, Michigan, Illinois, Wisconsin, and the Eastern Townships of Quebec, Canada. I still will, can’t forget my own roots.

Please check out the labels on the right side for articles. The header tabs at the top are a work in progress.

The Farmers and the Lays of Michigan

Twenty years ago, I received some cemetery photos from an internet cousin and genealogist friend. He visited the West Leroy Cemetery in Calhoun Co., Michigan to take some photos for me (prior to FindAGrave). David also sent me photos, with names written on the photos, then copied onto a full sheet. The grouped photos are shown below and I'm sharing because maybe they belong in somebody's family. The first three are in the Farmer family. Unfortunately, David's group sheet is incorrect because the third person Clayton S. Farmer was not a son of Alexander, but of his son, Charles M. Farmer. These pictures are not on FindAGrave. I am posting these because my Lay line blog has the most hits of any post (see my home page, google determined this statistic). My Farmer line can't get beyond that of Alexander Farmer, born in 1814, either in Canada or New York (based on census and death information from children). I will be tossing these sheets out in a week, so if you want them, please let me know asap.

The second sheet has three Lay family members, and a Rumery.

Below is an updated Family Group Sheet for the Farmer line, the second one is for the Lay line. The individuals in red belong to a cemetery photo on this blog.
