The Life From The Roots blog topics have changed several times since I began this blog in 2009. I initially wrote only about the family history I had been working on for 20 years. Years later, I was into visiting gardens, historical homes, churches, libraries that had genealogical collections, historical societies, war memorials, and travel/tourism places. I also enjoy posting autographs and photos of famous people I've met or have seen.

Along with my New England roots, other areas include New York, New Jersey, Michigan, Illinois, Wisconsin, and the Eastern Townships of Quebec, Canada.

Please check out the labels on the right side for topics (please note, they need work). Below the labels and pageviews is a listing of my top nine posts, according to Google. Four of them pertain to Lowell, MA. These posts change often because they are based on what people are reading.

Custom House Maritime Museum, Sone Genealogy and Views of Newburyport, Essex Co., Massachusetts

Custom House Maritime Museum
25 Water Street
Newburyport, MA 01950
https://customhousemaritimemuseum.org/    (A very nice website.)

Street view from the museum on May 23,2023.

As I entered, I faced this beautiful hallway. To the left are stairs to the second floor. I was lucky to get the senior rate. Good parking is to the right of this building.

There were a lot of nice paintings and models of ships. I'm not into ships, but it was different this day, because I really enjoyed the paintings.

And this was fun to look at.Be sure to check it out if you have Pettingell in your line.

This is the second floor, with quite a few rooms to see.

Interesting information about Capt. William Nichols.

The photo and description were on a wall.

View from a window.

Back of the building and three views.

Newburyport is a fun city to walk around and see the many shops, eat at a restaurant and enjoy the sights.

The Sea Level Oyster Bar was a nice place for us to eat.
