My blog has been changed to make it more appealing for those who have New England ancestors and want to see the area through photos. Things I’ll include are typical white New England churches, libraries showing their genealogical collection, historical societies, cemeteries, war memorials, in general, anything to do with history.

For four years I’ve blogged mostly about my personal genealogy in New England (Connecticut, Massachusetts, Vermont, and New Hampshire), New York, New Jersey, Michigan, Illinois, Wisconsin, and the Eastern Townships of Quebec, Canada. I still will, can’t forget my own roots.

Please check out the labels on the right side for articles. The header tabs at the top are a work in progress.

Nevins Memorial Library, Methuen, Massachusetts -- Genealogy and History Section

Nevins Library, Methuen, Massachusetts
Built 1883, another library that expanded.
I love the older section of the library, the beautiful stained glass and oak everywhere. You can see how beautiful it is. The only problem with taking pictures in a library is, I have to rely on their lighting, sometime there is too much (as with the sun through the windows), and sometimes not enough.

New section of the library, and below are the genealogy books.
General collection of genealogy books and below are some that pertain just to Methuen.

I soooo want to live and research where you do Barbara! All those gorgeous buildings and libraries. You did fine with available light! CLAP CLAP!

Thank you Carol. This is one of my more favorite libraries, although the genealogy department is rather small. I want to go back when it's overcast, then I think the stained glass will be outstanding.

Enjoying your tour of libraries and their collections. My favorite library (outside of NEHGS, of course) is the Springvale Public Library in Springvale, ME. It has an excellent collection of resources for Southern Maine.
