My blog has been changed to make it more appealing for those who have New England ancestors and want to see the area through photos. Things I’ll include are typical white New England churches, libraries showing their genealogical collection, historical societies, cemeteries, war memorials, in general, anything to do with history.

For four years I’ve blogged mostly about my personal genealogy in New England (Connecticut, Massachusetts, Vermont, and New Hampshire), New York, New Jersey, Michigan, Illinois, Wisconsin, and the Eastern Townships of Quebec, Canada. I still will, can’t forget my own roots.

Please check out the labels on the right side for articles. The header tabs at the top are a work in progress.

I found this very interesting this morning as it seems that we share ancestors. Jacob and Sara (Van Ness) Van Woert are my 3rd great grand parents. My family line decends from their son Jacob Van Woert who was born November 15, 1796. He mariied Helen Winn and moved his family to Michigan in the mid to late 1830's. They had 10 children, Joseph their 8th child is my great grand father. Joseph married Minerva Van Vorst in Michigan when he was 36 years old. They had 3 sons, their 3rd son William H. Van Woert is my grand father. William married Jessie Minnie and had 2 sons, and Roy Jiles their youngest was my father. I was suprised this morning when I foud my family on your blog. Duane Van Woert Tonasket, Washington

I also am a direct descendant of Jacob and Sarah Van Woert, their son Peter, then James, then Peter, with Mabel being my great grandmother. I am named after my great-great grandmother Lucinda and enjoyed growing up in the Oneonta area. Many of the family journals and photos have been handed down to me and I've kept them as part of the family history. Keep up the good work!
