Welcome to my Genealogy Blog.

Why not spend a minute or two at my Blog to see if there is anything interesting to read. Perhaps I've written something about your ancestor, gave a hint on how to locate something, provided a different way to do research, or just gave a glimpse into the world of genealogy research through words or photos. I try to make it light and enjoyable.

My roots are from New England (Connecticut, Massachusetts, Vermont, and New Hampshire), New York, New Jersey, Michigan, Illinois, Wyoming, and the Eastern Townships of Quebec, Canada.

Please check out the labels on the right side for articles. The header tabs at the top are a work in progress.

I also have a blog called Seeing New England. Why not visit it, to get a feeling for the area.

Boston Public Library (Genealogy area) -- Boston, Massachusetts

Boston Public Library, Main Reading Room.
The Library, photo taken in the spring.
Large collection of genealogy books.

Facing the genealogy books, more to the left and right.
One of my often used genealogy books, is the blue, Cemeteries of the United States. It has been in this spot for over 10 years.

Courtyard where you can just relax or eat a lunch. This is where Thomas MacEntee, Heather Rojo and I had lunch last October.
 Cafe
Microtext Room where I met Diane MacLean Boumenot yesterday.

Goodness, what a beautiful building, I am not sure I would be getting any research done there, eh?? I would be just staring at all the beauty!

That is the biggest, most beautiful library, genealogy or not, I have ever seen. I'm with Carol. Not a lot of work would get done!

All the comments are exactly right about the BPL. When I'm there I always go see the Sargent murals and the courtyard (if it's nice weather), and then I don't have enough time to get anything done!

I need to make a trip! I haven't been there in ages. When I was in library school I would occasionally go to the BPL and study in the reading room. Such an inspiring place. Thanks for posting your pictures!

Ladies, thank you for your comments. I am only now just looking at the building, inside and out. Before, it was always the books. (You know what I mean, research was always the priority.)
