My blog has been changed to make it more appealing for those who have New England ancestors and want to see the area through photos. Things I’ll include are typical white New England churches, libraries showing their genealogical collection, historical societies, cemeteries, war memorials, in general, anything to do with history.

For four years I’ve blogged mostly about my personal genealogy in New England (Connecticut, Massachusetts, Vermont, and New Hampshire), New York, New Jersey, Michigan, Illinois, Wisconsin, and the Eastern Townships of Quebec, Canada. I still will, can’t forget my own roots.

Please check out the labels on the right side for articles. The header tabs at the top are a work in progress.

Blogs and Summer

The photo was enlarged so you could clearly see where I want to spend some of my summer. Not necessarily here at the historic Castle Hill on the Crane Estate in Ipswich, Massachusetts, but going to other places in New England and taking photos. Additional photos of the estate are posted to my Seeing New England blog. The bottom photo is the view at the opposite end, I just turned around. For movie lovers, you might recognize this location. (Taken Memorial Day, 2013.)

For several years, I've wanted to take a summer break from blogging, and since I'm going into my fourth year, with over 1293 posts combining my three blogs: Life From The Roots, Seeing New England and Flowers from my Area, I feel this is the time for a vacation. I will continue posting in Seeing New England. A warm thank you to all of you following me and the many more who follow by email. I wish you all a healthy and a happy summer.

It's so lush and green there. Just beautiful! Have you seen the blog, "It's about Time," by Barbara Wells Sarudy (at Most of her posts focus on art and historical art in some form or another. Not long ago she did a series on summer gardens. These beautiful photographs reminded me of those gardens. (The most recent I found was , and you can go to previous posts from there, I think. (Or, you can look at her "garden" subjects.) Anyway, I thought you might be interested.

I hope you have a great summer traveling in New England, Barbara, and wherever else you may go.
